Vinod Tomar, the assistant secretary of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI), has been accused by the Delhi Police of intentionally assisting and facilitating WFI President and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is facing sexual harassment allegations from six top women wrestlers. Tomar has been named as a co-accused in two of the six complaints.
According to the chargesheet, Tomar ensured that the complainants were alone when they went to meet Singh on three separate occasions. He allegedly prevented the complainants' husbands or coaches from accompanying them to Singh's office-cum-residence on Ashoka Road in Delhi. Tomar has been charged under IPC Sections 506 (criminal intimidation), 109 (abetment), 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), and 354A (sexual harassment). He could not be reached for comment.
One of the wrestlers, in her statement to the police, alleged that Tomar allowed only her to enter Singh's office while intentionally preventing her husband from entering. She claimed that on that day, Singh molested her. On another occasion, her husband was again not allowed inside, and she was molested once more.
These incidents allegedly took place in 2017. In the first instance, Tomar purportedly asked the complainant's husband to wait outside the WFI office premises, and in the second instance, her husband was made to wait near Tomar's room at the WFI office.
