Federal agencies, including the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Federal Trade Commission, are raising concerns about several companies marketing products containing THC as lookalikes to popular snack foods. The FTC has issued "cease" letters to these companies, stating they are packaging edible products deceptively containing Delta-8 THC. The packaging closely resembles popular snacks and candies that children commonly consume, such as Doritos, Cheetos, and Nerds. Samuel Levine, the Director of the FTC's Bureau of Consumer Protection, emphasized that marketing THC products in a way children can easily mistake is reckless and illegal. The agencies are demanding that these companies immediately stop marketing edible Delta-8 THC products that imitate conventional foods using packaging or advertising likely to appeal to young children.
