On July 3, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) claimed NCP leader Ajit Pawar would replace CM Eknath Shinde soon. On July 2, Ajit Pawar took oath as the Deputy CM of Maharashtra. Eight NCP leaders were also sworn in as ministers in the government. An editorial in the Shiv Sena (UBT) mouthpiece 'Saamana' as reported by PTI claimed, “Pawar has not gone there for the deputy CM's post.
