A new study shows how food inequities across the U.S. are connecting “food swamps” to an increased risk of dying from obesity-related cancers, like breast and liver cancer. The National Library of Medicine defines a food swamp as “areas with a high-density of establishments selling high-calorie fast food and junk food, relative to healthier food options.”
