Ghana Beat Nigeria To Clinch WAFU B U20 Women’s Inaugural Title
Ghanaian U20 Women’s team, the Black Princesses have won the WAFU B U20 Women’s Cup on home soil, defeating Nigeria’s Falconets on penalties to claim the inaugural title.
The Nigerian girls dominated in the early part of the game before Flourish Sabastine committed a foul in the eighteen-yard box that gave the Ghanaians a one-goal lead via spot kick.
Three minutes into the regulation time, the Falconets’ efforts paid off, with Flourish Sabastine who caused the Nigerians girls the first goal, lashed onto a loose ball from the Ghanaian goalkeeper who had been fantastic prior to that moment, to give Nigeria an equalizer late minutes into the game.
The match ended 1-1 after ninety minutes, and the winner was decided by penalty shootouts.
Ghana scored three of five, and Nigeria score one of four penalties.
