Birmingham headlines 30 May: Girl, 13, seriously injured in a hit and run collision in Erdington
West Midlands Police are appealing for witnesses after a 13 year-old girl was seriously injured in a hit and run collision in Erdington. The youngster was struck by a black Volkswagen Golf convertible on Holly Lane just before 5.30pm on Saturday. A 47 year old was arrested on Sunday.
Twenty-nine knife crime suspects have been arrested as part of a national initiative to tackle knife crime. Operation Sceptre saw police erect knife arches across the city centre. Officers conducted 265 stop searches throughout the operation - removing 70 knives and arresting 76 people in total.
