Nurses set to strike despite pay offer deal

Nurses across Wales will go on strike later on this month despite a new pay offer being accepted. 12 unions accepted the deal, which equates to a 5% wage increase and a one off payment of roughly £1000, but the Royal College of Nurses say they are not bound by the deal and will continue to strike on 6th and 7th of June.

A local council, police commissioner and a health board have said they are concerned over the use of a hotel for asylum seekers in Llanelli. The home office have proposed using Stradey Park Hotel to house over 300 asylum seekers, but authorities warn they may not be able to cope with the increased numbers.

Wales Manager Rob Page has said the side will be welcoming back one of their best players as David Brooks returns to the team after recovering from Hodgkin lymphoma. The Bournemouth midfielder has been back in action in the premier league and will be included in Page’s upcoming side to face Armenia and Turkey.
