Ron DeSantis launches 2024 White House bid - BBC News
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has filed paperwork confirming that he will run for US president in 2024.

The 44-year-old is former president Donald Trump's chief rival for the Republican Party nomination.

DeSantis has restricted sex education and black history lessons in Florida schools. He also banned transgender athletes from girls' sports and blocked gender-affirming care for trans youth.
