Thousands took to the streets of Glasgow to campaign for Scottish Independence during the King’s coronation.

The march took place between Kelvingrove Park and Glasgow Green, culminating in a rally which saw speakers including Alex Salmond, Joanna Cherry and Ash Regan address the crowd.

Organisers, All Under One Banner, said that 20,000 people had participated.

Next, Glasgow City Council has doubled their road repair budget following what they described as the “most damaging winter in over a decade.”

£12 million will now go towards filling in and maintaining road surfaces in 130 streets.

They said that freezing temperatures mixed with heavy rain and traffic volume caused 7,000 potholes to appear between January and February this year.

And in other news, Scotland’s first purpose built Odeon cinema is expected to close, after being deemed “no longer viable” by the chain.

The art deco building opened in 1938 and is now set to screen its last film on 5 June.

Odeon said they were looking to secure jobs in locations nearby.
