Birmingham headlines 9 May: Birmingham Airport worst for delays
A new study by the Civil Aviation Authority has shown that last year Birmingham Airport was ranked the worst for flight delays in the UK for the second year in a row. The analysis shows that on average flights were half an hour behind schedule.

A 29-year-old man was left in a critical condition in hospital after being struck by a car in Smethwick. The man was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham after being hit by the vehicle on Monday. Police are appealing for people with information to come forward.

A man who attempted to break into an elderly woman's home twice in two days has been jailed for over eight years. Peter Swali of Bordseley Green was found guilty of aggravated attempted burglary and attempted burglary at Birmingham Crown Court
