Russian troops claim to have moved into western Bakhmut, the last part of the city still held by Kyiv's troops. The Russian defence ministry claimed that its assault troops have started fighting in the area. The leaked intelligence also indicates that the Wagner group unsuccessfully asked China for military assistance. A Russian official alleged that Ukrainian troops used chemical weapons from a drone in the Zaporizhzhia region.
Meanwhile, NATO chief has acknowledged that Ukraine's rightful place is in NATO and allies have agreed, but after victory. The Kremlin said NATO’s Ukraine accession policy justifies Putin’s “special military operation”. The US will reportedly start training Ukrainian troops to operate Abrams tanks "in the coming weeks”. Putin ally Dmitry Medvedev threatened that Russia will send “disgustingly damp” Britain into the abyss with a nuclear tidal wave.
