The Dallas Cowboys are days away from the 2023 NFL Draft and they have made some major moves during free agency to kick things off.

They started by franchise tagging Tony Pollard. Then, they re-signed Donovan Wilson, Leighton Vander Esch, and C. J. Goodwin. They traded for Stephon Gilmore. This was a big move for Dallas and one they definitely needed.

Then the Cowboys headed back to the drawing board to rework some contracts and make some more cap space. Dallas reworked Tyron Smith’s contract, released Ezekiel Elliott, and brought Cooper Rush.

To finalize everything before heading into the draft the Cowboys traded for WR Brandon Cook for a fifth-round pick in 2023 and a sixth-round pick in 2024, low-risk draft capital for an explosive play-maker.

The Cowboys have the current picks in the 2023 NFL Draft :

Round 1 Pick 26
Round 2 Pick 58
Round 4 Pick 90
Round 4 Pick 129
Round 5 Pick 161
Round 5 Pick 169
Round 5 Pick 176
Round 6 Pick 212

This class is a very TE heavy class and fans are wondering if the Cowboys are going to take another TE since Dalton Schultz is heading to Houston or try to grab the RB Bijan Robinson from Texas that everyone has their eyes set on. Dallas Could also use another WR after grabbing Brandon Cook during free agency.

“Obviously you lose Dalton Schultz, we drafted (Jake) Ferguson last year and ended up with great value with (Peyton) Hendershot. We feel good about that position. But certainly the draft is heavy (at TE). There are quite a few players in those top 3-4 rounds that we think can be like Ferguson or Hendershot and come in and really help us.” Stephen Jones on the draft being high strong with the tight ends.

“I’m sure when that first day (of the draft) is over, he’s certainly gonna have a team. And you never know.” Jones on 1053thefan on Texas RB Bijan Robinson.

Last season we saw a dominant Dallas defense and a very plain jane offense. The reality of the matter was that the Cowboys needed more playmakers on offense. This draft we might see something different from last season and see offensive heavy picks for Dallas this year.

The Draft will take place April 27, 28 and 29. Stay tuned for all the NFL content coming next weekend.
