The Environment Management Authority is awaiting a ruling by the Appeal Court regarding the powers of the authority and the powers of the police with respect to enforcing noise pollution rules.

The Chairman of the EMA made the disclosure as both the authority and the committee delved into the adverse health effects that can be caused by noise pollution, during a Joint Select Committee hearing in Parliament.
