इंसान ने जब चांद पर पहली बार कदम (First Step on the Moon) रखा था वो पल यादगार बन चुका है. नील आर्मस्ट्रॉन्ग (Neil Armstrong ) वो पहले व्यक्ति थे जिन्हें जुलाई 1969 को में ये उपलब्धि हासिल थी. 11 दिसंबर 1972 के दिन अमेरिकी एस्ट्रोनॉट (American Astronaut) यूजीन सरनैन (Eugene Cernan) और हैरिसन जैक स्मिट (Harrison Jack Schmidt) को चांद की सतह पर उतारे थे. लेकिन उस दिन के बाद से 50 साल से ज्यादा हो गए किसी भी देश से कोई भी चांद पर नहीं गया है. इसके पीछे कुछ बड़ी वजह हैं.
