A baker who creates sweet treats based on characters from the legendary games and animated series Pokémon - delights the internet with her creations.

The viral baker, who describes herself as a "nerdy confectioner", creates characters from various games and TV series, particularly Pokémon.

Gloria, who goes by @miscellaneousmao online, showcases her confectionery, including cakes and sweets of Pikachu, Magikarp, Magnemite & Jigglypuff.

The amateur baker has been creating these treats for over ten years and was inspired to create the Pokémon-themed treats after taking up the game 'Pokémon Go', in 2018.

Gloria, who wishes to remain anonymous, bakes mainly cupcakes and regular cakes, but also makes cocoa bombs to be added to hot chocolates.

She said: "I've always loved food, but I started practicing baking more seriously in early 2012, when I wanted to make cake pops for my sister's baby shower.

"While my first attempt didn't turn out particularly well, I kept practicing and eventually started experimenting with Pokémon sweets. But it was more for myself since I didn't have anyone to share it with.

"In 2018, I started attending local Pokémon GO community day meetups, and found fellow fans who appreciated my homemade treats.

"The responses I received encouraged me to keep experimenting with making Pokémon sweets, and my hobby kept growing from there."

Like millions of people around the world the Pokémon games and TV series was a source of inspiration and fun growing up.

Gloria, from New York, USA, added: "I'm a big Pokémon fan. I've been playing since Pokémon Yellow came out, and have played the main game from each generation since.

"My collection of Pokémon plush, and other merchandise, has taken over much of the decor in my apartment."

Gloria has baked over 150 Pokémon, but is skeptical as to whether she will eventually 'Bake 'Em All', as there a now over 1,000 characters.

She said: "I'm not sure how feasible that is since this is my hobby, and more Pokémon are still being released, plus many of the more complex Pokémon designs would be rather difficult to make.

"That said, I want to make as many as possible, and it's really fun seeing how much progress I make between generations.

"So far, I've made about 150 unique Pokémon over the last few years - 200 plus projects overall - but since there are now over 1,000 Pokémon, I have a long way to go."
