With the country being regarded as a mature market for renewable energy, with renewables accounting for 18% of the country's energy mix, the government’s plans for Malaysia were recently revised, with a more aggressive target of 31% renewable energy installed capacity in 2025, and 40% in 2035. Considering the untapped opportunities that Malaysia has in this regard, major cloud players that have yet to enter Malaysia such as Chinese tech giants looking to expand overseas may start turning their attention towards the region.
