On March 14, Supreme Court of India dismissed a petition filed by the Centre concerning the Bhopal gas tragedy. Centre demanded an additional compensation of Rs 7,400 crore from the successor firms of Union Carbide Corporation (UCC) for the victims of 1984 tragedy. A five-judge bench headed by Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul said the Centre's plea is not maintainable in law. Over 3,000 people were killed in the tragedy. Watch the video to know more.
