Glasgow headlines 2 March: Police seize £500,000 worth of class A drugs

Police Scotland has seized more than £500,000 worth of class A drugs from a vehicle in Glasgow.

Officers stopped a 34-year-old male driver on Wallacewell Road in Balornock and found around 9 kg of cocaine.

The man was subsequently arrested.

Next up, the emergency services were called to Napiershall Lane on 1 March to tackle a late night blaze.

Police arrived at the scene along with six fire appliances, and shut off the road until it was deemed safe.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service confirmed there were no casualties.

And finally, Glasgow City Council’s plans for the redevelopment of George Square include a play area and water feature.

While these are still in the exploration stage, councillors are set to to discuss the designs in March.
