Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said rubber smallholders are in for a bumper year with the Rubber Industry Smallholder Development Authority (Risda)'s allocation of RM676.4mil to be used for various initiatives.
Ahmad Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister, launched the Risda’s Year of Increasing Smallholder Income and Productivity effort at the ministry's monthly meeting on Thursday (March 2), and announced that the government has agreed to increase the monthly BMT aid from RM600 to RM800 for four months, with 320,000 smallholders to benefit from the initiative involving a RM256mil allocation.
