The derelict site of the former Earls Court exhibition centre in west London is to be reborn as an £8 billion green neighbourhood with a raised urban park bigger than Trafalgar Square at its heart, a new masterplan revealed on Wednesday. The flattened 40 acres of rubble where Led Zeppelin, David Bowie and Oasis once performed, and events such as the London Boat Show, Earls Court Motor Show and the 2012 Olympic volleyball competition were hosted has stood largely unused for almost a decade since the venue closed in 2014. It was demolished the following year.
