Residents of Hawke's Bay used a household fridge and mattresses to travel through submerged streets on Tuesday (Feb 14), after Cyclone Gabrielle pounded New Zealand with heavy rain and winds.
Video posted on social media shows men standing in waist-deep water on their doorsteps, and they can be heard laughing at the unusual transport choices of others who are navigating the debris-filled water.
