A man has been convicted of murdering his friend in a knife attack just days after being let out of prison. Builder Robert Goodwin, 32, of West Heath was found guilty of the murder of Shane Thompson following a trial that lasted two weeks at Birmingham Crown Court.

Hundreds of parking tickets were handed out in Birmingham every day in the first half of 2022, new figures reveal. Figures obtained show 67,205 penalty charge notices were handed out by Birmingham City Council in the six months to June 2022 – equivalent to 373 each day.

Birmingham ranked the third most desirable city in the UK to relocate to according to a study by CompareTheMarket. The research looked at Google searches relating to homes and moving to different cities between December 2021 and November 2022 to come up with the numbers.
