The newly launched 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid is touted as the first hybrid in its class. Granted, what it has is a mild hybrid system that assists the engine during acceleration and startup; it doesn’t have the ability to run the car on full electric mode even for short periods of time.

After getting some brief seat time in the car before its official debut, we now had the opportunity to take it on a longer drive. The agenda included a fuel economy run with three passengers aboard, and since one of our passengers is the owner of the first-generation Suzuki Ertiga, we also got some insights on how this latest iteration of the nameplate compares to the original version.
