A US decision to shoot down a Chinese balloon that Beijing claims had veered off course is "unacceptable" and an "overreaction", China's foreign ministry says.

“This is an unacceptable and irresponsible behavior…it tests how sincere the US is about stabilizing and improving China-US relations,” says Mao Ning, spokesperson of the foreign ministry.
