सनातन परंपरा में पूर्णिमा तिथि का अपार महत्व है. इससे भी अधिक माघ मास की पूर्णिमा व्रत-दान और संकल्प के लिए सबसे श्रेष्ठ मानी जाती है. जहां एक ओर शरद पूर्णिमा लक्ष्मी प्राप्ति का विशेष दिन है, उसी तरह माघ मास की पूर्णिमा श्रीहरि विष्णु की आराधना के लिए खास दिन है. इस तिथि पर स्नान, दान और जप को बहुत पुण्य फलदायी बताया गया है. माघ पूर्णिमा पर माघ स्नान का विशेष महत्व बताया गया है. माघ महीने में गंगा स्नान करने, विष्णु पूजा करने और खिचड़ी खाने का विशेष प्रावधान बनाया गया है. इस बार माघ पूर्णिमा 5 फरवरी 2023 को है.

Purnima date has immense importance in Sanatan tradition. Even more than this, the full moon of Magh month is considered best for fasting, donation and resolution. Where on one hand Sharad Purnima is a special day for attaining Lakshmi, similarly the full moon of Magh month is a special day for the worship of Shri Hari Vishnu. Bathing, donating and chanting on this date have been said to be very virtuous and fruitful. The special importance of Magh bath has been told on Magh Purnima. In the month of Magh, a special provision has been made for bathing in the Ganges, worshiping Vishnu and eating Khichdi. This time Magh Purnima is on 5 February 2023.
