Jacob Murphy twists the knife in after Southampton defender Duje Caleta-Car is sent off as the Newcastle winger cheekily waves him off the pitch during his side's Carabao Cup semi-final first leg win.
The Croatian was shown a second yellow card in the 88th minute of the clash, with Newcastle taking a 1-0 advantage into the second leg of the tie.
As Caleta-Car trudged off the pitch, the cameras caught Murphy sarcastically waving at the 26-year-old center-back.
The Newcastle forward had his eyes fixed on the Saints player as he did the cheeky gesture.
Caleta-Car clocked what Murphy was doing and looked like he had some choice words for the attacker as he walked past to head off the pitch at St Mary's.
Newcastle fans though reveled in Murphy's actions with one Twitter user also highlighting how several Newcastle players had words with the Croatian after he was shown his second yellow.
Dan Watson wrote: 'Best thing he's done all season,' while Kylen described him as 'savage'.
One Newcastle fan commented that he hoped Murphy got a new contract after his gesture while another Magpies supporter said they 'loved' the forward despite him 'not being the best player'.
