The core of the Earth might have just stopped spinning and might be now reversing its direction of spin according to an international team of researchers. This finding was published in the journal Nature Geoscience and states that the globally consistent pattern suggests that inner-core rotation has recently paused. It further adds that the rotation might have surprisingly shifted to the opposite direction.
