Everton defender Yerry Mina was confronted by a group of furious Toffees supporters in the aftermath of his side's latest defeat in the Premier League.
Everton lost 2-1 to bottom club Southampton at home and strong protests from fans followed, with supporters refusing to leave the ground after the game, with a hostile reception greeting the full-time whistle.
Fans have called for the board to resign on several occasions, and some supporters have decided to speak to the players, with one, in particular, begging Mina to stay at the club if they are relegated this season.
In which the audio is hard to make out among the shouts from other fans, a passionate supporter begs Mina: 'If we go down, you stay. If we go to the Championship, you stay.'
It is unclear if the defender responded immediately, but he shook hands with the fan before being confronted by another, who informed the Colombian of his desire to meet with the board to discuss the situation.
'Show us a bit of heart, lad. Be a leader then, lad. Speak out, the original supporter continued.
'Respect lad. Show me that passion.'
Mina paused, before saying: 'I will give my life for this club' in response.
The fan again gave his support to the 28-year-old, saying: 'Show them that you're the man then lad. Be our captain, wearing the armband', before Mina responded: 'I'm sorry for this', about Everton's situation.
'It's not your fault', was the response before Mina was escorted away by a police officer to a round of applause.
Videos have also surfaced of Toffees winger Anthony Gordon driving away from fans, who chase his car down the road.
It comes after Everton's Board of Directors didn't attend Saturday’s game at Goodison Park after being advised against threats to their safety.
The unprecedented situation saw Chairman Bill Kenwright, Denise Barrett-Baxendale, the Chief Executive, Finance Director Grant Ingles and Graeme Sharp, one of the club’s greatest players, miss the encounter as a result.
It was also revealed on Saturday that Barrett-Baxendale's car was attacked, and the club's CEO was 'physically manhandled' by a fan after Everton's most recent home match ended in a 4-1 defeat by Brighton, according to BBC Sport's Juliette Ferrington. According to the Liverpool Echo, club sources claim this included being put in a headlock.
Everton faces fellow strugglers West Ham next weekend in what already appears to be a huge game in the race for survival, before a game against league leaders Arsenal and the Merseyside derby.
