In India, Constitution Day is observed annually on November 26. The day is also known as the 'Samvidhan Divas'. On November 26, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India adopted the Constitution of India. The Constitution of India came into effect on January 26, 1950. The Constitution of India has been written by BR Ambedkar. It has been referred to as “first and foremost a social document” by American historian Granville Seward Austin.
