Each year on November 19, the nation celebrates the birth anniversary of Rani Lakshmi Bai. This day is also celebrated as Martyrs' Day in Jhansi to honour the lives lost in the Rebellion of 1857. She was one of the leading figures of the First War of Indian Independence of 1857. Rani Lakshmi Bai was born as Manikarnika Tambe on November 19, 1828. She was raised by her father who worked for Peshwa Baji Rao II of Bithoor district. Rani Lakshmi Bai died on June 17, 1958 fighting British colonial rulers. Watch the video to know more about her.1
