On November 16, the opposition Republican Party gained control of the 435-member US House of Representatives. However, they gained control with a narrow majority. Republicans now have 218 seats as against 211 of the Democratic Party. The elections were held on November 8. Party lawmakers had elected its leader Kevin McCarthy for the position of House Speaker. McCarthy tweeted, “Americans are ready for a new direction, and House Republicans are ready to deliver.” US President Joe Biden tweeted, “I congratulate Leader McCarthy on his House majority, and am ready to work together for American families.” Watch the video to know more.
