We all have different timelines. How early—or how late—we arrive in our destination is only secondary to actually showing up and being able to do the work that matters. After all, goals are static and as cliché as it is, the journey truly is the destination. No one understands this better than fashion designer Patricia Santos.
In this episode of How I Started, the celebrity-approved couturier looks back at her colorful nine year career. While she always had the aptitude for design, she took a not so straightforward path to bridal, and started with makeup. She then took the leap and went all-in with fashion, doing everything from sourcing, to beading, to customer service all by herself. This tenacity propelled her to great heights in the industry, but she's quick to point out that balance is key and that there's no room for comparison on your way to the top. You have to find out what works for you and importantly, you have to do the work.
