The Formula One Car Michael Schumacher won his sixth world title in has broken auction records and become the most expensive F1 car in history. The Ferrari F2003-GA was sold for $14.9 million at Sotheby’s auction in Geneva Switzerland. This breaks the previous record also held by one of Schumacher’s F1 cars, which was sold for $7.5 million in 2017. The legendary driver recorded five race wins, two podiums and three pole positions in the F2003-GA. He also claimed the sixth of his seven world titles in the car, finishing just two points ahead of Kimi Räikkönen. Before its sale, Schumacher’s son Mick, who races for the Haas F1 team, completed a test drive in it at Ferrari’s Fiorano test track. The auction house is “delighted” to achieve a record price for the car as it “truly reflects the importance of this chassis". Formula One cars of this quality and provenance rarely come to market, and this particular car is the best of the best, Augustin Sabatié-Garat, Director of Sales EMEA at Sotheby’s.
