As DAP ramps up the number of Malay candidates, Umno vice-president Mahdzir Khalid warned that the move was merely to shore up the party's multi-ethnic credentials.

According to Buletin TV3, Mahdzir told reporters in Kuala Nerang, Kedah yesterday that DAP was fielding Malay candidates in seats where it would be tough for them to win.

It is part of their tactic to show that they are multi-ethnic. However, everyone knows party decisions are made by a small group who are Chinese-centric, he said.
