सनातन धर्म में ग्रहण के दौरान कोई मांगलिक कार्य नहीं किया जाता है। इस समय राहु और केतु की बुरी छाया पृथ्वी पर रहती है। ज्योतिषों की मानें तो राहु-केतु की बुरी दृष्टि के चलते बने काम भी बिगड़ जाते हैं। अत: ग्रहण के समय ईश्वर का ध्यान और सुमरन करना चाहिए। वहीं, ग्रहण के दौरान मंत्र जाप का विधान है। इससे साधक की सभी मनोकामना पूर्ण होती हैं।
