YouTube Stops Requiring Premium Subscription , To Play Videos in 4K.
Engadget reports that YouTube took to Twitter to make the announcement.
It's not clear why the platform
is ending the experiment. .
But according to 9to5Google,
it caused significant backlash.
Users weren't happy about paying $12 per month
or $120 a year to have access to the website's
highest resolution for playing videos.
Engadget reports that those who weren't involved in the experiment were also worried that it would become a permanent feature only available to Premium subscribers.
It's not yet known whether YouTube will permanently do away with the idea.
