Karwa Chauth will be celebrated on October 13 this year. Married women will observe a day long fast praying for good health and long life of their husbands. Women cannot eat food or consume even a drop of water during this fast. Women eat ‘sargi’ (food especially prepared for Karwa Chauth) before sunrise & break their fast after the moon is sighted in the evening. As this fast involves no intake of food or water throughout the day, one should avoid sugar filled items before the start of the meal. Protein intake is important. One should consume dry fruits and drink at least 2-3 glasses of water before the start of the fast. Watch the video for more fasting tips.
