हिंदू पंचांग के अनुसार भाद्रपद मास शुक्ल पक्ष की चतुर्दशी को व्रत का विधान है. इस तिथि का निर्धारण चतुर्दशी तिथि सूर्योदय के पश्चात दो मुहूर्त में सम्पन्न होती है. यदि चतुर्दशी तिथि सूर्योदय के बाद दो मुहूर्त से पूर्व ही समाप्त हो जाये, तो अनंत चतुर्दशी का व्रत एक दिन पूर्व ही कर लेना चाहिए. अनंत चतुर्दशी व्रत की पूजा और सारे कर्मकांड इस दिन पूर्वार्ध में करने का विधान है, लेकिन किसी कारणवश पूर्वार्ध तक पूजा ना हो सके तो मध्याह्न में सम्पन्न कर लेना चाहिए.

According to the Hindu calendar, there is a law of fasting on the Chaturdashi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. Determination of this date is completed in two Muhurtas after sunrise on Chaturdashi Tithi. If Chaturdashi date ends before sunrise two times, then Anant Chaturdashi fast should be done one day before. There is a law to worship Anant Chaturdashi fast and perform all rituals on this day in the first half, but if due to some reason the worship cannot be done till the first half, then it should be done in the afternoon.
