Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves says she welcomes the government’s announcement that rent rises for millions of people living in social housing will be capped next year. However, Labour is also calling for a moratorium on evictions from privately rented accommodation, as many tenants face the prospect of unaffordable rents during the cost-of-living crisis.
