Japan pledged US$30 billion of aid and investment for Africa over the next three years as it sought to counter China’s growing influence. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stressed on August 27, 2022, during the Tokyo International Conference on African Development that Japan will “grow together with Africa”.
