Celestis, Inc, a private space flight company,
will include some of the actor's ashes on a
United Launch Alliance Vulcan Centaur rocket later in 2022.
The launch will take place
from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
The ship's flight is expected to
carry the ashes beyond the James Webb
telescope and into deep space.
'The Independent' reports that
Nichols will not be the first 'Star Trek'
alum to have their ashes carried into space.
Screenwriter Gene Roddenberry's
ashes have also been sent into
space on multiple Celestis missions.
A portion of Roddenberry's remains will
also join Nichols' on the Enterprise mission.
