The MV Asia Philippines, a passenger RoRo vessel, caught fire at 5:59 pm on Friday, August 26, one nautical mile off the Batangas port. The Philippine Coast Guard said that as of 7:30 pm, 73 individuals were rescued, with one brought to the nearest hospital due to an injury.
The vessel had 82 individuals – 48 passengers and 34 crew – and 16 rolling cargoes onboard.
