Right before the 2022 southwest monsoon season began, the long-range forecast by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and TWC India indicated normal to above-normal rainfall this year. That prediction has turned out to be accurate so far this season, with the country recording 707.6 mm precipitation between June 1 and August 24 — 9% higher than its average for this period (650.7 mm).
