Superman murió en los comics oficialmente en 1993, cuando el Superman #75 fue publicado mostrando la historia en la que Superman moría a manos del temible Doomsday.

Dicha historia fue la mas vendida de la historia, y es uno de los sellos más reconocidos de una época de Superman. Sin embargo también el Hombre de Acero ha muerto en otras ocasiones, tanto en cine, animados como en comics también.
