Sarawak has long been pursuing more autonomy over education matters as stipulated under the Malaysia Agreement 1963. But with education inequity in the Territories of East Malaysia among the highest when compared nationally, will more decentralisation help narrow that gap? This as we celebrate Sarawak Day on the 22nd July, which marks the end of colonial rule and the birth of a self-governing Sarawak 59 years ago.
