Anti-government protests demanding freedom for the activists imprisoned for years expanded to different parts of the illegally occupied Gilgit Baltistan this week.
For weeks now, the people of the illegally occupied Gilgit Baltistan have been asking the government to release the natives of the region who were incarcerated on trumped-up charges and thrown behind the bars following a shoddy judicial process. People in Gilgit Baltistan blame Pakistan of misusing anti-terrorism laws to muzzle reasonable voices that dissent against its rule.
Such people have no place in the system and they suffer a brute subjugation of their rights whenever they dare resist the state oppression. Islamabad has arbitrarily detained several of them under the same modus operandi.
People say the politicians make hollow promises of releasing them during their election campaigns but not a bit changes when they assume power and positions. They however said they were determined with their demands this time and would not leave all of them set free.
