NDRF Director-General Atul Karwal on July 09 said that the number of confirmed deaths due to the cloudburst at the lower Amarnath Cave site has increased to 16 and 40 people are still missing. He added "No landslide, but the rain continues, though no problem in rescue work. 4 NDRF teams with over 100 rescuers in rescue work. Besides, Indian Army, SDRF, CRPF & others continue to rescue.”
