Fresh protests erupted in Howrah on Saturday morning over a BJP leader's remark on the Prophet Muhammad. Section 144 was clamped in Uluberia sub division of Howrah following yesterday's protests. Prohibitory orders were imposed till June 15 in light of disturbances on the adjoining national highway and railway stations in the area.

A Bharatiya Janata Party office in Howrah’s Uluberia area was allegedly ransacked and burned by protestors on Friday, June 10. A BJP leader tweeted a video of the burned party office, demanding action against the perpetrators.
