I will visit Noor Mahal early morning because it closes around 6 PM. Bahawalpur is the 11th largest city in Pakistan with a population of 800,000. It is located in South Punjab. It was Founded in 1748, Bahawalpur was the capital of the former princely state of Bahawalpur, ruled by the Abbasi family of Nawabs until 1955. Later it was merged in Pakistan. Last night, I was here, Today after visiting Noor Mahal, I am going to Derawar Fort. The Stunning Noor Mahal was built by the fifth ruler of Bahawalpur State Nawab Sir Muhammad Sadiq in 1875 at the cost of 1.2 Million rupees. This beautiful building inspired by Italian construction style is one of the hidden gems of Bahawalpur and was built by a British Engineer Heenan. Nawab Muhammad Sadiq is renowned for his passion for constructing beautiful buildings. It was built for the residence of Nawab Sir Muhammad Sadiq. However, he did not live in the palace as the royals did not prefer to live near a graveyard. a property dispute took place among the heirs of the last ruler which led to the abandonment of Noor Mahal as well as several other buildings. On October 12, 1997, the army took over the possession of the palace and restored it. The building is still in the army’s possession. Before my visit, On January 11, 1890, Great Britain Prince Albert Victor visited Noor Mahal as a guest.
