'Women's Health' released a list of things that American parents do that people in other countries would probably find odd.
Here are 7 things that made it on the list:
Baby Walkers: Canada's Consumer Products Safety Commission banned walkers after they were found to cause more injuries than any other children's product. They were also found to potentially delay children's motor and mental development.
Buy Disposable Diapers: Disposable diapers create approximately 3.5 million tons of landfill waste each year. In many other parts of the world, parents potty-train kids at a younger age.
Early Bedtimes: In countries like Spain, parents let their kids stay up late to take part in evening activities
and interact with the rest of the family.
Huge Portions: 'Women's Health' points out that Americans have the highest calorie consumption per capita in the world. Kids in other countries typically eat smaller portions.
Exposure to Sex vs. Violence: According to a survey by the Motion Picture of America, 80% of parents say they are more concerned about their kids seeing sex, as opposed to graphic violence.
Medicating Children: Children in the U.S. are 10 times more likely to be prescribed meds for ADD or ADHD than kids in the U.K.
Hiring Babysitters: In places like China and Spain where multiple generations typically live in one house or nearby, extended family take on the bulk of childcare needs.
